The bridge designed over the Kızılırmak River, which flows south of the city center of Sivas, is located at the center of the project planned for the Kızılırmak surroundings. The Kızılırmak Bridge aims to strengthen the connections between the city on the north-south axis and the university and recreational areas on the east-west axis.

The Kızılırmak Bridge aims to offer different experiences to the residents during their journey between points A and B, rather than just connecting two points. For some, the Kızılırmak Bridge will serve as a passage, while for others, it will be a quiet stop where they can admire the landscape. The design of the bridge is in harmony with the surrounding geography. The white frames describing the silhouette of the bridge disappear in the winter months when covered with snow, while the wooden platforms become an extension of the yellowing meadow in the summer months.

In addition to being site-specific, economic sustainability has been adopted as a primary design criterion. The Kızılırmak Bridge consists of a roadway, tramway line, bicycle path, and pedestrian path. Except for the pedestrian areas, the roads have a total width of 38 meters. This section of the bridge is supported by concrete beams placed on twin pillars with a span of 16 meters, using precast beams. Conventional systems with ease of implementation have been preferred to reduce construction costs and durations.

The pedestrian living areas are designed as wooden platforms suspended by steel frames attached to the concrete structure. The frames, measuring 11 meters in height and 5.60 meters in width, are constructed using I30 profiles and are placed on concrete cantilevers. The wooden platforms are situated at three different elevations, providing users with various experiences. The zero elevation provides uninterrupted access between the two banks. Access to the tram stop at an elevation of +5.65 is available from this level. The zero elevation of the bridge is located below the vehicle road, creating a quiet area.

The elevation at +5.40 provides a connection to the bicycle path. Users who park their bicycles at this level can become a part of the bridge experience. When necessary, portable stalls can be set up at this elevation, transforming it into a market area. The observation terraces located at an elevation of +8.10 offer users the opportunity to observe recreational areas from a different perspective.

The bridge becomes a plaza when it intersects with the recreational areas extending along the east-west axis. In this area, there are supporting facilities such as cafes, a promotional office, ATMs, restrooms, and a bicycle rental station. The plaza allows the flow of the recreational area around the river to continue without being disrupted by vehicle traffic. Access to the bridge is provided from different areas through the plaza, and an elevator is considered for disabled access. The terrace-like design of the wall separating the plaza from the Kızılırmak River integrates with the landscape and pedestrian paths. Concrete seating blocks designed on the river side of the wall will occasionally be submerged in water, adapting to the seasons like the bridge. Landscape decisions will be reevaluated in conjunction with the decisions made at the higher scale.
